SM570 vs S460ML
These two grades are listed as equivalents of each other: their chemistry windows overlap and they serve the same applications. They are not always identical — check the differences below before substituting, especially in certified designs.
SM570
Structural & HSLA Steel
SM570 is the highest-strength grade of JIS G3106 rolled steel for welded structures: tensile 570–720 MPa with yield from 460 MPa, from a lean C-Mn chemistry kept weldable by carbon-equivalent control. It is the JIS counterpart class to GB Q460 and EN S460 plate for weight-critical welded construction.

S460ML
Structural & HSLA Steel
S460ML is a thermomechanically rolled fine-grain steel to EN 10025-4 with a 460 MPa yield and impact toughness guaranteed to −50 °C. TMCP processing gives this strength at very low carbon, so weldability stays excellent for a 460-class steel.
