S460ML

Data under review

S460ML is a thermomechanically rolled fine-grain steel to EN 10025-4 with a 460 MPa yield and impact toughness guaranteed to −50 °C. TMCP processing gives this strength at very low carbon, so weldability stays excellent for a 460-class steel.

Applications & Processing

Applications: Offshore structures, wind turbine towers, heavy cranes, Arctic construction.

Processing: Outstanding weldability for its strength (low CEV); strictly respect the maximum reheating temperature in fabrication.

FAQ

What does the L in S460ML mean?
M = thermomechanically rolled delivery; L = impact tested at −50 °C. The plain S460M is only guaranteed at −20 °C.
