EH40
Data verifiedEH40 is the arctic member of the 390 MPa hull-steel family: same chemistry window as AH40/DH40, but impact-certified at −40 °C. Ice-classed vessels, Arctic offshore units and cold-climate port structures are its home ground.

Applications & Processing
Applications: Ice-going and polar vessels, Arctic offshore structures, cold-region marine terminals.
Processing: Welding consumables must match the −40 °C toughness class; class survey certificates are part of the deliverable.
FAQ
- AH40, DH40, EH40 — same steel?
- Essentially yes: identical chemistry and strength. The letter sets the Charpy test temperature — A: 0 °C, D: −20 °C, E: −40 °C — and the mill’s grain-refining and testing practice behind it.
