60
Data verified60 is the highest-carbon GB/T 699 machinery grade in common trade (AISI 1060 class), used where plain-carbon spring and wear performance is enough.
Chemical composition
| Element | Content (%) |
|---|---|
| C | 0.57–0.65 |
| Si | 0.17–0.37 |
| Mn | 0.50–0.80 |
| P | ≤0.035 |
| S | ≤0.035 |
| Cr | ≤0.25 |
Weight percent, per the governing standard ranges. Actual values per heat are on the mill certificate.
Properties
| Tensile strength | ≥675 MPa (GB/T 699 reference, normalized blank) |
| Yield strength | ≥400 MPa (reference) |
| Density | 7.85 g/cm³ |
Heat treatment
Quench 800–830 °C oil/water by section; temper to duty. High hardenability for a plain carbon steel, but watch quench cracking.

Applications & Processing
Applications: Springs, wear plates, shafts, couplings, farm implements.
Processing: Poor weldability; grind after hardening; avoid water quench on complex shapes.
