5CrNiMo

Data verified

5CrNiMo is China’s standard hammer forging die steel (GB/T 1299), a Ni-Cr-Mo grade that through-hardens in very large die blocks while staying tough. It has served Chinese forge shops for decades as the default die-block material.

Applications & Processing

Applications: Hammer and press forging die blocks, die holders, hot trimming dies, large hot-work inserts.

Processing: Supplied as big forged blocks, often prehardened; weld repair is routine. The V-bearing variant 5CrNiMoV upgrades hot wear for severe duty.
